This sample Project Charter template represents a very basic yet practical charter. It is short, to the point, and contains only the most essential high level information about your project. It should be used as a starting point, with sections added as required. Some sections you may consider adding to this project charter template include sections for: other related projects, and an indication as to which project portfolio the project belongs.
This sample Project Charter template is based on the previous template, but has been tailored for a project with an external client. In addition to requiring the identification of both the provider and client project Sponsor, the charter allows provisions for including other supporting documentation such as “general terms and agreements”. This charter can therefore serve a second purpose as a project contract for a small to mid-sized project. Another feature of this charter template is that it includes an easy way to specify the high level deliverables that have a fixed price.
